Blessings range from adding Em excesso heart containers and healing damage taken, to movement-enhancing power-ups such as a post-jump glide, and longer whip reach. Activating blessings costs more with each subsequent redemption, adding a compelling risk-reward element. While some treasure chests are easy to find, many are hidden away in areas requiring dextrous platforming skills to reach, or take precious time away from avoiding an in-pursuit guardian.

Using a whip for traversal, freerun your way through the danger to be the first (and only) player to reach the goal. Phantom Abyss is available on PC in Steam Early Access June 22nd. Intrepid adventurers will dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms, and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them.
Movement is the name of the game, and Whip Again can drastically extend your air time and vertical distance. With quick enough reflexes, should your first grapple fail to help you reach a safe platform, Whip Again can give you a second chance to avoid falling into the abyss.
With the Ice Whip, however, so long as you have the Icy Feet curse still enabled, you can use the momentum of your slide to boost your horizontal distance. Slide, let go of all keys and then quickly crouch and jump while you still have momentum.
Speedhackers already? I may be out of the loop, but I occasionally see phantoms that run at 2x or 3x the speed of a regular person, and depending on what type of whip I'm running, that takes steam out of my sails.
